First ever Insurance summit on the cards

Raotra Investments in partnership with the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and Namibia Financial Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA) will host the 1st ever Insurance and investment Summit this month.

The event scheduled for the 22-23 July at Safari Court in Windhoek is meant to give the players in the financial sector an opportunity to showcase their products and services to the public.

Permanent Secretary of MoF, Erica Shifuda, while speaking that the launch of the summit at her office yesterday said the event will go a long way in educating the public on the roles of the sector.

“Over the years, the public hears about the insurance products but hardly understand the way insurance policies and services work in a long term; especially the people from the rural areas are never aware of the implication or cost related to those policies; thus, when Raotra Investment approached us last year with the idea to host the Summit, we saw an opportunity to educate the population at large on the financial products,” she said.

Raotra Investment Director Neville Basson also emphasized the importance of this summit and noted that they intend making it a yearly event.

“This year it will be based in Windhoek, however we intend hosting it in a different region every year to be able to inform and educate the public on the function of the financial sector.”

Raotra Investment is a media consultancy company which was launched three years ago.
