WINDHOEK, 30 JUL (NAMPA) - More than 20 businesses and private individuals have donated a collective amount of more than N.dollars 200 000 towards the Katutura Central Expo.
The Katutura Central Expo is scheduled to take place from 01 to 04 August this year at the Katutura Multi-purpose Youth Centre’s stadium.
Speaking at the launch of the 2013 expo here on Tuesday, Regional Councillor for the Katutura Central Constituency, Ambrosius Kandjii applauded the organisations and individuals who support the expo. He said most of the organisations have been supporting the expo since 2011.
This year, Mukorob Fishing contributed N.dollars 100 000; Standard Bank Namibia N.dollars 15 000; the Agricultural Bank of Namibia (Agribank) N.dollars 50 000; while Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) contributed N.dollars 10 000, amongst others.
Kandjii said the aim of the expo is to provide opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) within Katutura to generate more sales from their target markets, and for SMEs and farmers to introduce new products and services to their customers.
The expo will include activities such as an agricultural show of various livestock breeds, traditional and cultural performances, musical entertainment by Namibian artists and bands, boxing and religious and faith-based activities.
Kandjii said compared to last year, the number of SMEs participating in the expo has increased from 19 to 30; while corporate stalls increased from 15 to 25, and sponsors have increased from 24 to 26. The number of kapana stalls is however being decreased from 40 to 25 so that each stall can have a better market share.
It is also expected that some 5 000 people will attend the expo this year, compared to the about 3 000 recorded last year.
