OTJIWARONGO, 14 MAR (NAMPA) - Street vendors in Otjiwarongo are being urged to apply for business space at the stalls which were erected near the Otjiwarongo Fire Brigade’s offices.
“There are 104 stalls put up near the Otjiwarongo Fire Brigade’s offices, which street vendors are urged to apply for,” the Otjiwarongo Municipality’s Public Relations Officer Adelheid Shilongo said on Thursday.
She told Nampa that there are only 64 registered street vendors here.
People can start applying for the stalls near the Fire Brigade as well as for those stalls situated south of the Otjiwarongo Town Square in April this year.
Shilongo noted that the stalls will be allocated once the application process is completed.
People will also not be allowed to do business in the streets anymore after that, and the municipality will see to it that all 64 registered street vendors are accommodated in the various stalls around town.
Other street vendors may also be accommodated at the Otavi Open Market in the northern parts of the town.
The Otjiwarongo Municipality will call a public meeting before the end of this month to inform the general public on the application and allocation processes for the stalls.
