Otjiwarongo's best performing Grade 10 and 12 learners awarded

OTJIWARONGO, 10 FEB (NAMPA) The best performing Grade 10 and 12 learners in Otjiwarongo in 2013 received N.dollars 5 000 each from the Otjiwarongo Constituency Development Trust Fund on Monday morning.
The money was handed over at a prize-giving ceremony by Otjiwarongo Constituency Councillor Otto Ipinge, who initiated the fund last year.
Ipinge is the chairperson of the Otjiwarongo Constituency Development Trust Fund.
The beneficiaries were Onesmus Aron, Ruben Dionisius, Rodney Karosab and Fredrick Nekongo from Paresis Senior Secondary School; Devin Somaseb from Donatus Senior Secondary School; Rachelle van der Colf, Paderee Kamarenga, Rebecca Malakia and Jacoba Keister from Otjiwarongo Senior Secondary School; and Paulus Mwetunyenena from Tsaraxa-aibes Junior Secondary School.
Ipinge said the money is a way of saying thank you to learners for their impressive performance last year. The ceremony was also aimed at motivating learners in Grade 10 and Grade 12 this year to excel in their studies.
We will double the amount to N.dollars 10 000 next year, so my dear learners, double your hard work as well this year so that you can pass your Grade 10 and Grade 12 during this years final examinations with good marks, he said.
Speaking on behalf of the learners, Aron who obtained 42 points in Grade 12 thanked the Otjiwarongo Constituency Development Trust Fund Board of Trustees for the financial support.
Aron also asked the Board of Trustees to continue supporting learners from the informal settlements who do not have access to potable water and electricity.
The Otjiwarongo Constituency Development Trust Fund was established in August 2013 with the aim of helping learners who pass Grade 10 and Grade 12 to pay their tuition fees at institutions of higher learning.
The Otjiwarongo Development Trust Fund in December 2013 also availed nearly N.dollars 100 000 which was used to treat pensioners to lunch at Otjiwarongo and Kalkfeld.
