WINDHOEK, 06 FEB (NAMPA) – Local businessman Johnny Johnson Doeseb (JJD) earlier this week handed over certificates and N.dollars 10 000 to each of the 10 best 2013 Grade 12 students in the Erongo Region.
The monetary awards were given on condition that the recipients register at any tertiary institution to further their education.
“Education is important because it opens many doors which would otherwise have stayed closed for you,” said Doeseb in a media statement issued by the JJD Investment Group of Companies on Thursday.
He said successfully finishing Grade 12 is just Phase One, and furthering ones education that best suits one’s skills and competencies is the next step.
Doeseb advised students that even if they successfully complete university, it will never guarantee them a job or success in the labour market, because good academic results must be accompanied by a winning attitude and professionalism.
The top 10 students are Quinton Gertze from the Da Palm Secondary School, Paulina Shikongo (Namib High School), Khadisjah Goses (Coastal High), Lusianu Daniel (Kuisebmond High School), Priscilla Masule (Westside High School), Florian Mosich (Namib High School), Nienke Heyman (Kuisebmond High School), Naemi Hangula (Coastal High), Hileni Walenga (Kuisebmond High), and Thomas Fillemon (Kuisebmond High School).
