Okakarara woman dies of alleged overdose

OTJIWARONGO, 03 FEB (NAMPA) – A 38-year-old woman died at the Okakarara State Hospital on Saturday after she allegedly overdosed on pills.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Public Relations’ Officer, Sergeant Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Monday that an inquest docket (no. 01/2014) has been opened at the Okakarara police station following her death.
Eveline Karunga is said to have visited the Okakarara State Hospital last Friday after she fell ill of a yet-unknown condition.
A medical doctor on duty at the time prescribed three different kinds of tablets in three different bottles.
It is suspected that Karunga drank all tablets in one go on Saturday morning.
She became very weak and was rushed to the Okakarara State Hospital, where she died at about 12h00 on the same day.
Police investigations continue.
