Local boxer arrested by ACC

WINDHOEK, 30 JAN (NAMPA) – Well-known Namibian boxer Wilberforce Shihepo was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly corruptly using a Government fuel card to refuel a private vehicle.
Shihepo is employed as a control officer in the Office of the Prime Minister’s San Development Programme.
A media statement issued by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday said Shihepo allegedly utilised a Government fuel card to refuel a private vehicle which he drove on 25 and 27 January this year at a local service station.
“The alleged loss identified thus far is N.dollars 706.85,” the statement said.
Investigations are continuing using the statements of the fuel card used.
Shihepo appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Thursday and was released after paying bail of N.dollars 3 000.
His case was postponed to 23 March this year for further investigation.
