OTJIWARONGO, 26 JAN (NAMPA) – A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 15-year-old boy at Okahandja on 15 or 16 January 2014.
The Otjozondjupa Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on enquiry Sunday the two were seen playing together at the suspect’s parents’ house in Okahandja on those days.
The incident took place in a garage at that house.
Mbeha said the girl started to show signs of pain on her private parts last Friday, while she and her mother were in Otjiwarongo where they had travelled to.
That same day, the mother took the toddler to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital for medical assessment.
“At the hospital, the doctor confirmed that the baby had been raped,” said Mbeha.
A case of rape under CR no. 78/01/2014 has been opened at the Okahandja Police Station.
He was arrested on Saturday, and released into parental care on the same day.
The boy is expected to appear in the Okahandja Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Police investigations continue.
