Standing Committee to inspect projects in //Karas and Hardap

WINDHOEK, 25 JAN (NAMPA) - The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Constitution and Legal Affairs will undertake an inspection visit to development and/or capital projects of the Ministry of Regional and Local Government, Housing and Rural Development in the //Karas and Hardap regions from next week onwards.
Parliament made the announcement in a media statement issued to Nampa here on Friday.
The two-week-long visit is aimed at assessing whether the two Regional Councils and Local Authorities have started with the implementation of development projects identified in the government’s National Development Plan 4, Medium-Term Expenditure Framework 2013/2014 to 2015/16, as well as the Clarification of Expenditures – 2013/2014 to 2015/2016 financial years.
Some of these development projects in the //Karas Region include the provision of services in Karasburg with a total project funding expenditure of N.dollars 23 000 for the years 2013 to 2016.
Other projects are sewerage systems’ construction in Noordoewer at a cost of N.dollars 26 853, construction of a regional office park in Keetmanshoop for N.dollars 15 000, as well as provision of basic sanitation in rural areas in the Kars rural areas for N.dollars 5 000.
In the Hardap Region, the development projects amongst others include the establishment of a regional development centre in Mariental for a total project funding expenditure of N.dollars 153 000, provision of services in Mariental and Aranos of N.dollars 23 000 and N.dollars 27 000, respectively.
