Two commit suicide in Kavango West

SAUYEMWA, 26 JAN (NAMPA) - Two people allegedly committed suicide at separate places in the Kavango West Region this weekend, one by gunshot and the other by hanging.
The first incident occurred on Saturday at the Mazwa village situated some 50km west of Rundu in the Kavano West Region, where a 25-year-old man shot himself with a shotgun in his stomach.
The Namibian Police force (NamPol) Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton told this reporter on Sunday the deceased died while being rushed to the Rundu State Hospital.
The reason for the suicide could not be established, as no suicide note was left behind.
The deceased has been identified as Johannes Pessa, a resident of the Mazwa village.
His next of kin were informed, and police have opened an inquest docket into the incident.
The second incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, when a 28-year-old man hanged himself with a rope in a hut at the Suayemwa informal settlement on the western outskirts of Rundu.
The deceased was identified as Albert Kalokwa, a resident of the Sauyemwa location.
No suicide note was left behind.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.
