OLULONGO, 30 MAY (NAMPA) - A group of northern business personalities, calling itself ?Team Hage?, last Sunday visited the Olulongo congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (ELCIN), where it donated over N.dollars 600 and a wall watch.
The Olulongo Church is situated in the Ondangwa Constituency of the Oshana Region.
The leader of the group is Sigo Amunyela of Sande Bar, which operates at the Omaalala village in the Ongwediva area.
Amunyela, who is also a member of the Olulongo congregation, further handed over certificates of recognition for several church activities during his group?s visit to Olulongo last Sunday.
?The certificates we issued to the church are aimed at encouraging them to do more for the congregation,? Amunyela said.
He said most of the certificate recipients contributed immensely to the hosting of a successful Christmas Day celebration at the Olulongo Church last December.
Amunyela explained that ?Team Hage? is named after Prime Minister Dr Hage Geingob, and the group is mainly made up of Swapo-Party members who supported Geingob?s campaign for the party?s vice-president position last year.
Geingob was re-elected as the vice-president of Swapo during the elective 5th congress of the party held in Windhoek towards the end of last year.
Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture Minister Jerry Ekandjo and Home Affairs and Immigration Minister Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana were the other two candidates for the Swapo-Party vice-president position.
Amunyela said Team Hage?s visit to the Olulongo ELCIN Church last Sunday was also about demonstrating solidarity with Geingob, who was addressing a Swapo-Party rally at Grootfontein in the Otjozondjupa Region on that same day.
'Team Hage' also held a picnic at Amunyela?s Sande Bar, after the church service.
