OTJIWARONGO, 02 OCT (NAMPA) - Three women aged 54, 70 and 79 died in an accident on the Tsumkwe-Grootfontein gravel road Monday morning.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha told Nampa the accident occurred around 08h30, some four kilometres west of Rooidag Gate in the Tsumkwe Constituency.
Five people, including the 54-year-old female driver who was a South African national, were in the vehicle headed from Tsumkwe to Windhoek.
“About four kilometres west of Rooidag Gate, their station wagon overturned three times, instantly killing the driver and two passengers,” Mbeha said.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the driver lost control over the vehicle on the gravel road.
Two other occupants who survived the accident with slight injuries were treated at the Grootfontein State Hospital.
The three deceased are yet to be identified, Mbeha said.
Police investigations continue.
