Nine-year-old drowns in hotel swimming pool

WINDHOEK, 30 SEP (NAMPA) – A nine-year-old boy on Saturday drowned after his friends allegedly pushed him into a swimming pool at the De Duine hotel in Henties Bay, the Namibian Police Force weekend crime report indicated on Monday.
The report issued here Monday said that the deceased with his friends allegedly sneaked into the swimming pool by jumping over the wall and while they were standing at the edge of the pool, one of the boys pushed the nine-year-old boy into the water.
The incident happened at around 16h45 and his next of kin were informed.
Police investigations continue.
In an unrelated matter, two people died in a car accident at about 19h00 on Sunday after a Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen pickup collided on the main road between Oshikuku and Outapi at Oshipanda village.
The driver of the Toyota sedan and one of his passengers died on the spot and were identified as Shapumba Gideon (26) and Lukas Shinana (46).
Their next of kin were informed and police investigations continue.
In another matter, a lifeless body of an unknown female was found lying on the ground by neighbours on Saturday covered with a blanket inside a shack at Omuhonzi village in the Onayena constituency.
She was found by neighbours who informed the police and police investigations continue.
In a similar matter, a lifeless body of Hadwin Bly (22) was discovered hanging under a tree with a wire around the neck in a riverbed at about 05h50 in Gibeon on Saturday.
The deceased was allegedly lastly seen on Friday night time.
His next of kin were informed and police investigations continue.
An unknown man was fatally bumped by a truck and died on the spot at about 10h40 on Friday, along Sean Mcbride street in Olympia.
Police investigations continue.
