Pensioner arrested for alleged possession of cannabis at Grootfontein

OTJIWARONGO, 30 SEP (NAMPA) - A 62-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday afternoon after she was allegedly found in possession of fresh and dried cannabis plants at her plot on the outskirt of Grootfontein.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, in an interview with Nampa on Monday said the woman, allegedly a second-time offender was being monitored by the police for a long period of time, which resulted in her arrest on Saturday at about 16h30.
“We found four fresh dagga (cannabis) plants at her plot, two 20 litre containers filled with the dry dagga leaves, and 15 bottles of oil allegedly also being a product of the same dagga,” said Mbeha.
The police officer said the alleged confiscated drugs have an estimated street value of N.dollars 32 900.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession and dealing in cannabis.
