WINDHOEK, 29 SEP (NAMPA) – The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) at its electoral college on Saturday endorsed McHenry Venaani as the party’s presidential candidate for the upcoming National Assembly and Presidential elections.
This was announced by PDM secretary-general Manuel Ngaringombe in a media statement on Sunday.
The party also elected 105 candidates for their National Assembly (NA) list.
Among the top 30 candidates, about 40 per cent are women and 33 per cent are youth, Ngaringombe said.
He urged the elected candidates to go out to all corners of the country and mobilise Namibians to vote for PDM as the only credible alternative to change the current status quo of the country.
“I believe that this dynamic and diverse team of men and women, young and old are ready to serve Namibians and to give our country hope,” he said.
The SG further revealed that the movement also held its National Executive Committee elections to serve for two and a half years as per its constitution.
Hidipo Hamata will serve as secretary for information and publicity while Ben Mckay will be secretary for organisation and mobilisation.
Simon Nunes is the new secretary for labour and employment relations whereas Felicia Motinga took the secretary for gender equality and female empowerment position.
Roger Nautoro was elected as the secretary for legal affairs and secretary for education position went to Kunovandu Hepute, while Reinhilde Kudumo is the secretary for health and social services.
The SG and his deputy Linus Tobias are not on the list as they have to be out of parliament to keep the operations of the party alive.
The Presidential and National Assembly elections are slated for 27 November.
