WINDHOEK, 22 JAN (NAMPA) Local boxing promoter Kinda Nangolo says his boxers Gottlieb Ndokosho and Abraham Ndaendapo will only fight in May, in spite of an offer from the IBF for them to fight at the end of February this year.
Nangolo, owner of the Kinda Promotions, told Nampa on enquiry Wednesday he received an offer from the International Boxing Federation (IBF) towards the end of last year for the two boxers to defend their titles in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on 28 February.
Ndokosho defended his International Boxing Federation (IBF) International featherweight title against Georgian Kakhaber Avetisian in December last year, while Ndaendapo won the African Junior Lightweight title when he knocked out his opponent from South Africa, Mxolisi Nombewu on the same bout.
Nangolo said he declined the offer because the Namibian two boxers fought last month and still need time to prepare themselves for their next fights.
We need to organise ourselves and put everything in place before we agree to any fight, he said.
The promoter added that his stable has so far received about five offers for fights for the two boxers, but no contract has been signed yet as he is still negotiating for opponents.
However, a couple of Nangolos other boxers will be in action on 08 March this year.
Some of these boxers will fight for their first boxing titles, while Eradias Hamunyela, formerly known as Pohamba Mandume, will defend his National Welterweight belt.
Mandume's opponent is yet to be determined.
Currently we want to promote the local boxers, as our aim as Kinda Promotions is to help and develop boxers in Namibia, he said.
On his part, Ndokosho told this agency that he is just a boxer and all decisions depend on his promoter and trainer Albertus Tsamaseb, but he is always ready to fight.
Ndokosho holds a record of 19 fights with 15 wins and three losses, while Ndaendapo holds a record of 14 fights with 12 wins and two losses.
Ndaendapo also told this reporter that he too is up for any fight.
I am always in the gym training and I am ready to fight anytime, he said.
