Teenage boy and mother arrested for allegedly dealing in cannabis

OTJIWARONGO, 27 SEP (NAMPA) – A 13-year-old boy and his mother were arrested after they were allegedly found sorting cannabis in their home at Rooidag Gate in the Tsumkwe Constituency on Thursday.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha on Friday told Nampa the boy and his 30-year-old mother had been under police surveillance for some time before their actual arrest.
Mbeha said 32 small parcels and loose cannabis, as well as N.dollars 610, were found in their possession during arrest.
Both are expected to appear in the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
“They face charges of possession and/or dealing in prohibited drugs,” said Mbeha.
The value of the cannabis is yet to be determined.
Police investigations continue.
