Africa had reliable statesman in Chirac: Geingob

SWAKOPMUND, 27 SEP (NAMPA) – President Hage Geingob has expressed his condolences to the people of France and the family of former French President Jacques René Chirac, who died on Thursday.
In a post on his personal Facebook page Thursday evening, he acknowledged Chirac’s role in Africa's development.
“In President Chirac, Africa had a reliable statesman who worked closely and passionately as a partner in its development. May his soul rest in peace,” Geingob said.
Chirac, who died at the age of 86, served as the French President and ex officio Co-Prince of Andorra from 1995 to 2007.
He was previously the Prime Minister of France from 1974 to 1976 and from 1986 to 1988, as well as the Mayor of Paris from 1977 until 1995.
