WINDHOEK, 24 SEP (NAMPA) – A 35-year-old man who allegedly killed his girlfriend and set her shack on fire in Katutura on Sunday, was arrested in Windhoek’s northern industrial area Tuesday.
This is according to Namibian Police Force spokesperson, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi, who said the man was found under the bridge near the NamPower sub-station where he had been sleeping.
She told Nampa the suspect had burn wounds on his face and other parts of his body that he allegedly sustained during the fire in which his girlfriend perished.
He is currently admitted at the Katutura State Hospital under police guard.
The man is accused of killing Katrina Silas with an axe, which was found stuck in her body, before setting her shack on fire at Namibia Nalitungwe informal settlement in Katutura on Sunday at around 04h00.
It is alleged that neighbours heard the couple arguing around 01h00 and a few hours later, the shack was on fire.
Investigations continue.
