Truck driver escapes accident unharmed

SWAKOPMUND, 24 SEP (NAMPA) – A truck transporting nine vehicles in a trailer overturned on the Swakopmund-Arandis road on Monday.
According to a report issued by Namibian Police crime investigations coordinator for Erongo, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu on Tuesday, the truck which was coming from Walvis Bay headed to Botswana overturned when the driver, a 29-year-old Botswana national who was alone in the vehicle, lost control over it.
The accident occurred around 25 kilometres before Arandis from Swakopmund.
The driver escaped the accident unharmed. However, all the vehicles on the truck were damaged. The value of the damage has not yet been determined.
In an unrelated matter, the Erongo Region police are searching for a vehicle which was allegedly stolen from a residence in Walvis Bay on Monday.
The unknown culprit/s allegedly forced the door of the flat open with a steel bar which was found at the scene, entered the residence and stole the car keys and a television set valued at N.dollars 3 500.
The stolen vehicle is a Ford Ranger double cab with registration number N 750-426 WB, valued at N.dollars 380 000.
Investigations continue.
