Traffic officer who died in motorbike accident identified

OTJIWARONGO, 24 SEP (NAMPA) – The traffic officer who died in a motorbike accident near Otjiwarongo on Monday, has been identified as Joseph Phillip Severus.
The 54-year-old Severus, a senior traffic officer in the Namibian Police Force, was identified by relatives, NamPol’s Otjozondjupa Regional Commander, Commissioner Heinrich Tjiveze told Nampa on Tuesday.
“Severus was NamPol’s traffic sub-divisional head in the Otjozondjupa Region based at Otjiwarongo, where he served as a chief inspector,” Tjiveze said.
He allegedly lost control over his police motorbike, causing it to roll several times some 35 kilometres north of Otjiwarongo around 15h15 Monday.
Severus was on duty, returning from a farm situated between Otjiwarongo and Otavi, when the accident occurred.
Police investigations continue.
