Gobabis resident pleads not guilty to killing woman

WINDHOEK, 23 SEP (NAMPA) – A Gobabis resident who allegedly raped and killed Magdalena Gamras, 26, in June 2016 at the eastern town of the Omaheke Region pleaded not guilty in the Windhoek High Court here on Monday.
Rooinasie Masuna, 28, pleaded not guilty on two counts of rape and murder when he made his first appearance before Judge Kobus Miller.
A summary of substantial facts contained in the charge sheet indicates that on 09 June 2016, Gamras allegedly went out socialising at various bars in the Epako settlement at Gobabis.
In the early hours of 10 June 2016, the accused allegedly walked home when he met the deceased on her way back home and allegedly raped and murdered her by strangling her with his hands.
The deceased died on the scene due to asphyxia allegedly caused by strangulation.
It is further alleged that Masuna went home and slept after the incident.
State lawyer Ethel Ndlovu is representing the prosecution while Mbanga Siyomuinji is representing the accused.
The case continues on Tuesday.
