GOBABIS, 20 SEP (NAMPA) – Gobabis residents on Friday held a ‘walk and bike’ mobilisation march in preparation for the countrywide annual National Clean-up Campaign slated for Saturday.
The main event will take place in Rundu in the Kavango East Region.
They marched from the Gobabis Municipality head office up to the Epako highway, encouraging fellow residents to take part in the event and distributing refuse bags.
Senior Public Relations Officer at the Omaheke Regional Council, Tauno Iileka told Nampa on Thursday council has received cleaning materials from the government and private sponsors for the campaign.
“Companies such as Shoprite and Spar will also sponsor manpower by availing some of their employees to part take in the cleaning campaign,” Iileka added.
Other local authorities and settlements in the region, he noted, have started collecting cleaning materials for their respective constituencies.
The National Clean-up Campaign was launched by President Hage Geingob in 2018.
