WINDHOEK, 20 SEP (NAMPA) – Namibia has moved one position up in the latest International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) world rankings released on Thursday.
The Brave Warriors who were previously ranked 121st in the world, are now in 120th place, while they remain unchanged on the African rankings at number 30.
Following their poor showing at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt in June where they lost all of their three group matches to Morocco, Ivory Coast and South Africa, Namibia has played four competitive matches after that.
They beat the Comoros away from home in the 2020 African Nations Championship 2-0, before playing to a goalless draw at home against the same opponents.
They have also played Eritrea, winning the two matches 2-1 away from home and 2-0 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
Meanwhile, on the African continent, Senegal remains the top-ranked team, followed by Tunisia, Nigeria, Algeria and Morocco.
Belgium remains the top-ranked country globally, followed by France, Brazil, England and Portugal.
