WINDHOEK, 16 SEP, NAMPA) Otjinene-based Otjinoko and Tom and Jerry from Windhoek won the netball and football competition of the fifth edition Chuu-Ve tournament, respectively on Sunday.
The tournament saw 24 football teams and 20 netball teams competing amongst each other at the Khomasdal Stadium in Windhoek.
The first round of the tournament kicked off on 31 August 2019.
In the first netball semi-final Otjinoko ladies defeated their Epukiro-based counterparts Okovimburu 29-12, while Truck Team from Windhoek defeated their fellow Windhoek-based Young generation 32-26, in the second semi-finals.
Otjinoko ladies then won the Chuu-Ve tournament after they defeated Truck Team 28-20 in the finals, taking home N. dollars 5 000, a trophy and 12 gold medals.
Truck Team pocketed N. dollars 2 500, along with 12 silver medals as runners-up, while Okovimburu and Young Generation ladies each took home a cash prize of N.dollars 1 250 as losing semi-finalists.
In the football category, Okombomi from Epukiro defeated Otjombinde-based Life Ino City 1-0 in the first semi-finals.
In the second semi-finals, Tom and Jerry locked horns with Amajitas from Windhoek, with Tom and Jerry won the match 1-0.
Tom and Jerry then won the finals, defeating Okombomi 4-3 in penalties after a goalless draw to pocket N. dollars 10 000 and 20 gold medals as the final winners.
Okombomi took home N. dollars 5 000 and 20 silver medals as runners-up, while Amajitas and Life Ino City each took home N.dollars 2 500 as the losing semi-finalists.
Merven Kasetura of Tom and Jerry received the goalkeeper of the tournament award while Bolly Tjitemesa got the defender of the tournament award.
Okombomis Himee Hengombe scooped the midfielder of the tournament award whereas Tom and Jerrys Given Given took the player of the tournament honor.
The coach of the tournament award went to Ngurimuje Veseevete from Tom and Jerry.
