Sixth National ICT Summit launched

WINDHOEK, 12 SEP (NAMPA) - The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) on Thursday launched the Sixth National ICT Summit set to take place on 07 to 09 October in the capital.
The summit aims to bring an opportunity for interactions between policy makers, ICT experts, academicians, entrepreneurs and ICTs innovators to reflect, understand and share knowledge on advancements and trends in the ICT sector.
Launching the annual event to be held under the theme, 'Accelerated Digital Transformation in Namibia,’ MICT Minister, Stanley Simataa said digital transformation and the acceleration thereof is unavoidable and fundamental in an age where technological innovation has been recognised as a powerful engine for development to address social and economic challenges.
He said the emergence of digital technologies, has given rise to digital corporations which have created opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship.
'The acceleration and integration of digital technology into all sectors, should be maximised to advance our nation’s development agenda,' he said.
Simataa called on ICT industry players, public and private sector, academia and the youth, to optimally exploit the immense opportunities through the summit thereby cementing efforts to build a digital social and economic ecosystem that will truly support the country's efforts to transform Namibia into a digital smart nation.
