KBA playoffs kick off this weekend

WINDHOEK, 12 SEP (NAMPA) – The 2019 Khomas Basketball Association (KBA) playoffs to determine the finalist of the current season, will start this weekend at the University of Namibia (UNAM)’s gym hall.
The KBA leagues; namely Men’s Premier, First Division and Second Division and the Women’s League; will see the top four teams facing each other for the coveted spot in the finals.
The draw, which was agreed to at the beginning of the season, will see position one facing the fourth-placed team, with number two and three clashing against each other.
For the men’s premier league teams, the semi-finals will see the teams playing the best of five series, while the rest will battle in the best of three.
The finals for the men’s premier league will be the best of seven, while the first division and women’s league will contest the best of five series and the men’s division two will play the best of three.
The premier league fixture is already sorted out - UNAM Wolves, who finished at the top of the log will face fourth-placed Tsumeb Titans, while Lions will face UNAM Rebels in the other semi-finals.
In the first division, Afro Stars (position two) will face Titans (position three), while TBA Backswords (position one) face UNAM Raiders (position four).
The second division is yet to be concluded, but Plaza Warriors and UNAM Wolves II have booked their places in the playoffs as the first and second-placed teams.
It is the same scenario with the women’s league as the teams are currently still slugging it out for the final positions, but the fight for top spot is between BAS Falcons and UNAM Sparks, while the third and fourth spots are between Lioness and TBA Silver Swords.
These positions will be concluded on Thursday ahead of the weekend games.
The overall winners in the men’s division receive N.dollars 15 000, while the rest will get medals and trophies during the awards ceremony scheduled for 22 October at the UNAM Leisure Centre.
