Ongwediva hosts 2019 Metropolitan Cup

ONGWEDIVA, 11 SEP (NAMPA) – Inter-regional finals of the 2019 Metropolitan-Swabou Summer Cup is scheduled to take place at the Valombola Vocational Training Centre (VVTC) at Ongwediva in the Oshana Region on Friday and Saturday.
Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service Chief Sports Officer in the region, Sunday Haitembu told Nampa here on Tuesday that football and netball school teams from the Oshana, Omusati, ||Kharas, Oshikoto, Erongo, Ohangwena, Kavango East and Hardap regions will participate in the finals.
Host Oshana Region will be represented by Ongwediva Combined School (CS) and Oshekasheka CS in both soccer and netball.
Other regions to be represented are
as follows: Okanghudi CS (soccer) and Onanghulo CS (netball) will represent Ohangwena Region, Erongo is to be represented by Karibib Junior Secondary School (JSS) in soccer and Atlantics JSS in netball and the Kavango East Region will be represented by Nyangana CS in both soccer and netball this time around.
Omusati is represented by Uushwa CS (soccer) and John Shekudja CS (netball) while the ||Kharas delegates are Ernst Jagger JSS (soccer) and Lordsville JSS (netball). The Hardap representatives are from Danie Joubert CS for both soccer and netball whereas Okankolo CS (for soccer) and Onkumbula CS (netball) will represent Oshikoto.
The winners of the competition in the two sport categories will be awarded top prizes of N.dollars 15 000, floating trophies and gold medals; the runners-up will receive N.dollars 9 000 and silver medals and third prize will be N.dollars 6 000 and bronze medals with fourth prize being N.dollars 4 000.
All participating teams will on Saturday receive soccer/netball kits at the end of the tournament that is sponsored by Metropolitan-Swabou as part of the total N.dollars 450 000 cost for the prizes and hosting of the event.
