Baby dumped in Oshana Region

ONGWEDIVA, 10 SEP (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshana Region have requested the public’s assistance in tracing the mother of a baby boy found alone in the bushes at Okakola village on Monday.
Inspector Thomas Aiyambo of the NamPol’s Public Relations Unit in the region said in a statement availed here on Tuesday that the baby was found at around 21h00 on Monday.
The baby, he said, is unknown in the area and is estimated to be between three and four months.
“The suspect left the child in the bushes alone near an open space alongside the road,” explained Aiyambo, who noted that he was discovered by passers-by and is now admitted to the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital.
The charges of cruelty/ill treatment and neglecting of a child have been opened in connection with the incident.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
