WINDHOEK, 09 SEP (NAMPA) – Omusati Councilor for Ruacana Constituency, Andreas Shintama has warned his constituents and those in nearby constituencies to be mindful of the use of fire as the strong winds in the area have led to a few houses burning down.
In an interview with Nampa on Monday, Shintama said there are three houses that burnt down in his constituency over the last three weeks due to the strong wind, adding that the latest of the fires occurred this weekend.
He said the said this strong wind has been going on for some time now, adding that he is not sure of when it will stop.
“Some of the people whose houses were burnt have lost their mahangu grain storage, clothes, sleeping quarters and other useful belongings,” he said.
The councilor therefore urged all the community members to take all the necessary precautions, for as long as the wind persists, to ensure that there is no further loss of property.
