RUNDU, 08 SEP (NAMPA) – A bus carrying 15 German tourists overturned on Saturday at Shinyungwe village in the Kavango East Region, claiming the life of a female tourist whose age is unknown.
The incident happened at 09h30, the Namibian Police Force crime investigations coordinator for the region Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu informed Nampa on Sunday.
Kanyetu said it is alleged that the bus which belongs to a local transport company was travelling from Rundu towards Divundu when a Honda sedan travelling from Divundu to Rundu hit it on the right side of the driver.
“This caused both vehicles to overturn and in the process one passenger in the bus died and many sustained serious injuries,” he said.
The injured received treatment at the Nyangana Catholic Hospital.
The deceased has been identified but her next of kin have not yet been informed.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
