Ongwediva businessman commits suicide after shooting wife

ONGWEDIVA, 07 SEP (NAMPA) – An Ongwediva businessman shot and critically injured his wife with a pistol at the town on Friday before committing suicide by shooting himself with the same pistol in the head.
Confirming the incident to Nampa on Saturday, crime investigations coordinator of the Namibian Police Force in the Oshana Region, Deputy Commissioner Hilja Haipumbu identified the businessman as Manuel Rebeiro.
Rebeiro, 41, allegedly shot his 30-year-old-old wife, Paula Rebeiro, who is admitted to the Ongwediva Medipark Private Hospital in critical condition.
The incident took place at the couple’s house on Friday afternoon, but the motive behind the shooting remains unknown, Haipumbu said.
Rebeiro was the owner of Grand Pub in Ongwediva.
His next of kin are informed and police investigations into the matter continue.
