WINDHOEK, 07 SEP (NAMPA) – The Air Namibia Board of Directors chairperson and vice-chairperson have resigned, the national airliner announced on Friday.
Chairperson Advocate Deidre Sauls-Deckenbrock and her deputy Nangula Kauluma, whose resignations came into effect on 05 September 2019, were appointed to serve on the board since 01 January 2019 for a three-year term.
In a statement, Air Namibia said Sauls-Deckenbrock and Kauluma indicated that they were no longer in a position to avail the time commitment required for their duties to the company.
“During our tenure, we have made some solid progress (albeit not always publicly shared due to confidentiality and appropriateness of doing so), as well as [in] ongoing communication with the shareholder (Government),” Kauluma was quoted as saying in the statement.
Ministry of Works and Transport Public Relations Officer, Julius Ngweda confirmed to Nampa upon enquiry on Saturday that the ministry received the resignations from the two board directors.
He said the ministry would look into the matter next week to consider the way forward.
