REHOBOTH, 06 SEP (NAMPA) – The Windhoek Galz & Goals coaching course kicked off in the capital on Thursday, with 35 participants representing their schools, youth and academy teams.

The course, which will end on Saturday, aims to ensure that young players at grassroots level get an opportunity to be led by capable coaches.

A statement issued by the Women’s Football Desk at the Namibia Football Association on Thursday said the five-year Namibia Football Association (NFA) Gals & Goals strategic plan, launched in November last year, has helped the fast-growing adolescent girls programme to roll out its activities in Namibia during 2019 with help from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

It further said the priority entries to the Galz & Goals coaching courses are women, Brave Gladiators players and youth coaches.

“Three Brave Gladiators national players have registered for the coaching course in Windhoek to create a possible career in coaching and they are looking forward to pick up valuable tips on basic coaching and training, which will benefit young girls joining the Galz & Goals leagues,” it said.

The UNICEF-funded NFA Basic Coaching course has already been completed in Swakopmund and Okahandja.

The next and the last course for 2019 under the programme will take place in Eenhana in the Ohangwena Region during the second week of October, the statement added.
