WINDHOEK, 05 SEP (NAMPA) – The Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) and Christian Democratic Voice (CDV) have joined forces and will back RDP president Mike Kavekotora as their candidate for the upcoming National Assembly and Presidential elections.
The two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding here on Thursday in the presence of the party leaders and supporters at the RDP head office.
CDV president Gothard Kandume said RDP is in a better position to address the land issue and commended their plan for the education sector, as well as their economic recovery plan especially for “disgruntled youth”.
“The home affairs and immigration policy of RDP will be the best for proper immigration controls and good citizenry. Also, the international communities have lost interest to invest in Namibia because they regard it as an upper middle income country,” Kandume said.
He added that he is satisfied with the political ideology of the RDP and therefore agreed upon the formulation of the coalition ahead of the elections on 27 November.
Kavekotora said there is a need for change in the political sphere and leadership of the country to rescue Namibia and grow the economy.
He said the current leadership does not represent the needs of the people as they are instead “representatives of the Chinese and the elite”.
CDV, which was established in 2014 and is rooted in “strong Christian values”, has a membership base of 8 000.
