OTJIWARONGO, 05 SEP (NAMPA) – The three people who died instantly on Tuesday when their pick-up fell off a bridge on the Otjiwarongo-Kalkfeld road, have been identified.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha on Thursday told Nampa the deceased are the driver, 47-year-old Sebastian Erastus; his son Gabriel Erastus, 10; and 49-year-old Hilma Shikongo.
Mbeha on Thursday said the two other occupants of the vehicle - a woman aged 35 and a 27-year-old man - who sustained serious injuries, are in stable condition at the Otjiwarongo State Hospital.
The accident occurred around 13h30 some 32 kilometres southwest of Otjiwarongo when the vehicle, which was towing a trailer, veered into the opposite lane, drove through the barrier and fell off the bridge.
“The vehicle was torn into two pieces,” Mbeha said.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
