Three people die in accident on Otjiwarongo-Kalkfeld road

OTJIWARONGO, 03 SEP (NAMPA) – Three people aged 10, 47, and 49 died instantly Tuesday afternoon when the pick-up they were travelling in fell off a bridge on the Otjiwarongo-Kalkfeld road.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa regional crime investigations coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Naukalemo Andreas told Nampa at the accident scene the deceased are the male driver and a woman and boy who were passengers in the car.
The accident occurred approximately 13h30 some 32 kilometres southwest of Otjiwarongo and left the vehicle split in two.
Andreas said the pick-up was towing a trailer when it veered off the road and hit the barrier wall of the bridge.
“Five people, including the 47-year-old driver, were in the vehicle which was travelling from the direction of Otjiwarongo towards Kalkfeld,” she said.
The two other occupants of the vehicle - a woman aged 35 and a 27-year-old man - sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital.
Police investigations continue.
