WINDHOEK, 03 SEP (NAMPA) Brave Warriors interim coach Bobby Samaria has named Peter Shalulile as captain of the team for their match against Eritrea in Asmara on Wednesday for the 2022 Fifa World Cup preliminary qualifiers.
Speaking to www.nfa.org, he said Shalulile will be deputised by Willy Stephanus, adding that the stage is set for his side to prove their mettle at the National Stadium in Asmara.
The players are in high spirits and eager to go out to represent our country to the best of their ability, Samaria was quoted as saying.
He added that he was also encouraged by the healthy competition in the team.
Fighting for positions is extremely intense and with the quality Namibia possesses, we are spoilt for choice. All we need to do is find the right balance with respect to the composition of the team, he added.
The team only had two training sessions on the artificial turf of the match venue.
The return leg will take place on 10 September 2019, at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
