WINDHOEK, 03 SEP (NAMPA) – The Namibia Premier League (NPL) has announced the dates of the rescheduled Board of Governors (BoG) Meeting and Annual Ordinary Congress (AOC).
In a media statement Tuesday, NPL public relations and marketing officer Andre Gariseb said the two meetings which were initially scheduled to take place on 31 August will be held on 11 September and 21 September respectively.
According to the statement, the postponement of the two gatherings was necessitated by the ongoing financial audit, which is expected to be completed by 14 September 2019.
Speculation earlier was that the NPL members had pressurised the league into postponing the meetings.
Amongst the issues to be discussed will be the audit statement for the 2018/19 football season as well as the filling of vacancies, membership standing and the league consolidating its calendar of events, plans and fixtures for the new season, Gariseb noted.
The BoG which is a constitutional assembly that represents the supreme, legislative and decision-making authority of the NPL, is convened yearly to review the league’s operations for the concluded season and to prepare for the new season.
Gariseb concluded by saying as is customary, two delegates from all official NPL clubs are expected to be present and to “contribute positively to the development of the game”.
