ONGWEDIVA, 01 SEP (NAMPA) – Seven people escaped with injuries after a head-on collision took place between two vehicles near Adolf settlement on the Ondangwa-Ongwediva main road in the Oshana Region on Friday.
Inspector Thomas Aiyambo of the Namibian Police Force’s Public Relations Unit in the region said the seven occupants of the two vehicles sustained injuries and were taken to Oshakati State Hospital for medical attention.
“They are all in stable condition,” Aiyambo narrated.
He explained that a Jaguar sedan with registration plate number N165124W and a Toyota double cab pick-up registered as N200415W were involved in the accident.
The driver of the Jaguar, with only one passenger, travelled from Ondangwa’s side and the pick-up, carrying the driver and four passengers, was headed in the opposite direction when the incident occurred around 20h00.
Aiyambo indicated that the police at Ongwediva have opened a reckless and/or negligent driving case docket in connection with the accident as per CR 193/08/2019.
Police investigation into the matter is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
Aiyambo also reported a theft under false pretence case after a 30-year-old complainant was allegedly conned in a fake diamond deal of N.dollars 31 450.
He said the incident took place also on Friday around 14h36 next to the Ondangwa Fire Station.
“The suspect is unknown and no arrest has been made,” Aiyambo said.
