Child’s beating leads to fatal stabbing at Karasburg

KEETMANSHOOP, 01 SEP (NAMPA) – A 28-year-old man was on Saturday stabbed to death for allegedly beating the suspect’s child at Karasburg in the ||Kharas Region.
The Namibian Police Force’s crime investigations coordinator for ||Kharas, Deputy Commissioner Chrispin Mubebo told Nampa on Sunday that the deceased had been identified as John Matroos.
The incident happened at Plakkerskamp residential area around 18h20 on Saturday.
Mubebo said it is alleged that the 25-year-old suspect, the father of the child, stabbed the victim after an argument arose between the two.
“It is alleged that the argument started when the deceased apparently beat the suspect’s child. The suspect took a knife and stabbed Matroos once on the left side of his neck and the knife got stuck in his neck,” Mubebo said.
He added that the suspect and the deceased are in-laws and the suspect was arrested.
The deceased’s next of kin are informed and police investigations continue.
