OTJIWARONGO, 02 SEP (NAMPA) - The 24-year-old woman who died in an accident on the gravel road between Okakarara and Okondjatu on Saturday, has been identified as Mokahurua Tjikurame.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, in an interview with Nampa on Monday said Tjikurame died Saturday morning upon arrival at the Okakarara State Hospital, where she was taken shortly after the accident.
The accident occurred some 15 kilometres south of Okakarara when the Toyota double cab she was travelling in left the road and overturned on the C22 gravel road.
The police officer said a 32-year-old man who allegedly drove the vehicle was charged with culpable homicide and operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
Mbeha said he was also charged with reckless and negligent driving on the public road.
“The driver survived the accident with some serious injuries and was treated at the Okakarara State Hospital,” Mbeha said.
NamPol investigations continue.
