OSHAKATI, 02 SEP (NAMPA) – A man who allegedly killed his 30-year-old girlfriend at Oshakati on Saturday, was arrested in the Omusati Region’s Etayi Constituency Sunday night.
Inspector Thomas Aiyambo of the Namibian Police Force’s Public Relations Unit in the Oshana Region confirmed the arrest on Monday.
The 31-year-old man is a trial-awaiting suspect who, the day before the woman’s death, escaped from the Oshakati State Hospital where he was admitted under police guard.
The deceased has been identified as Lucina Isabella Quimbra from Oshakati East and her next of kin are informed.
She was found dead in bed in the room of a friend in the Okandjengedi residential area Saturday night, following reports that the two had a quarrel at one of the bars in the area.
“The deceased had two visible open wounds on the left side of her face and another one on the head. She also had a broken right arm,” Aiyambo explained.
The identity of the suspect is known but withheld as he is yet to appear in court.
