OTJIWARONGO, 02 SEP (NAMPA) – The Swapo Party’s Otjozondjupa regional conference has been set for Wednesday in Otjiwarongo.
The party’s regional coordinator, Susan Hikopua in an interview with Nampa on Monday said during the conference, two names of regional representatives to the electoral college will be elected.
Hikopua said the Swapo electoral college is expected to be held in the capital from 06 to 08 September, where party members who will feature on the list for the next National Assembly (NA) will be elected.
“The two members to be elected on Wednesday will compete with others at the national party electoral college over the weekend,” Hikopua said.
She said the six candidates - three men and three women - to contest the two Swapo regional candidatures are Kaino David, Regina Alugodhi, Maria de Conceicao Lourence, Patrick Xoagub, Erickson Nenghwenya and James Uerikua.
“We have three women to contest for one post, and three men for the other,” said Hikopua.
She further said an additional four people will also be nominated and endorsed as regional delegates to the national party electoral college.
Each of the seven party districts in the region will deploy four delegates to accompany their district coordinators to the regional conference.
Some national political leaders assigned to Otjozondjupa will also attend the conference as witnesses, while Hikopua will direct the proceedings.
