Khomas and Omaheke in Skorpion Zinc Under-17 final

WINDHOEK, 26 AUG (NAMPA) – The Khomas Region has booked their berth in the finals of the 2019 Skorpion Zinc Under-17 tournament following their 3-1 victory over Erongo in their final match of the group stages at Sam Nujoma Stadium on Sunday.
The host region was joined by Zambezi, who also drew 0-0 against Otjozondjupa which led them to qualify as runners-up in group A behind Khomas.
Zambezi lost one, drew one and won two of their matches to amass seven points, three behind Khomas who drew one and won three to finish the group stages on 10 points.
On the other hand, Omaheke qualified from group B as the top ranked team following their three victories and one loss during the group stages.
In group C, Oshikoto advanced at the expense of Kavango West on goal difference after scoring eight goals compared to five scored by their challengers.
Both teams finished on six points, and had the same number of goal difference (four) but Oshikoto urged their opponents on the basis that they scored more goals.
This meant that Khomas were to play Oshikoto while Zambezi faced Omaheke on Monday morning in the two semi-finals.
Khomas then outplayed Oshikoto to emerge 2-0 victors while Omaheke needed penalties to defeat surprise team of the tournament Zambezi, winning 4-3 to set up a clash in the finals with Khomas.
The final will be played at 14h00 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium between Khomas and Omaheke.
