Omaheke ready for Skorpion Zinc cup

REHOBOTH, 21 AUG (NAMPA) – The Omaheke Region announced its technical team and 20-member football team to compete at the Skorpion Zinc Cup this coming weekend.
The tournament will take place in Windhoek from Friday to Monday and will see all 14 regions compete in what is the biggest youth tournament for the U-17s.
Team coach Ewald Kaviromba Wednesday said his team has been hard at work for the last two weeks and indicated that they are ready to go all the way.
“The team we have is well-prepared although we have no sponsorship, but we will represent our region with pride for the love of the game. We are going to the competition to win it for Omaheke as we stumbled at the last hurdle against winners ||Kharas, and we believe we have what it takes to bring it to our region for the first time,” Kaviromba said.
The selected players are Mervan Hanavi, Liberto Thompson, Brandon Basson, Aidan-Lee Tjazerua, Stanten Engelbrecht, Canane Kilumba Kasongo, Kasora Kapuuo, Usher Uazenga, Alex Kenamuino, Pepua Muvangua, Usiel Kandorozu, Vazuva Kambaera, Michael Kavezemburuka, Rowen Jagger, Derlon Visagie, Hangero Tjiandjeua, Nguvutjita Tjatindi, Kaehero Calvin, Muhupa Hoveka and Utumuna Nguatjiti.
The technical team is made up of Kaviromba as head coach, deputised by Ruddy Nunuheb, with Erica Balzer taking up the team manager position and Dickman Murema responsible for logistics. Eugenie Modi Mokgatea will be the team medic.
Omaheke have been grouped with defending champions ||Kharas, Hardap, Kavango East and Oshana in group B.
In group A, hosts Khomas will go up against Erongo, Kunene, Zambezi and Otjozondjupa.
Group C is comprised of Ohangwena, Oshikoto, Omusati and Kavango West.
The top three teams and the best placed runner-up will qualify for the semi-finals of the competition.
