RABAT, 17 AUG (NAMPA) – Namibia’s women beach volleyball team of Kim Seebach and Kristin Schulz lost their second match of the competition 0-2 to host Morocco on Friday at the African Games (AG) currently underway in Rabat, Morocco.
The 12th edition of the AG is being held in Casablanca and Rabat from 16 to 31 August 2019.
Namibia who are in Group A with Morocco, Sierra Leone and Sudan collected their first points of the group stages earlier on Friday afternoon after Sierra Leone forfeited their match and Namibia were awarded the points for that match.
In their second group game at the competition later on Friday, Seebach and Schultz met a strong home side who dominated the match and won both sets of the game. Despite the Namibian girls making little errors their opponents had the home ground advantage as they played to their cheering fans.
Namibia lost the first set 15-21 while the second set was lost with a 12-21 score line.
Speaking to Nampa after the match, Seebach said with Morocco being one of the strongest teams at the competition losing to them does not discourage them and they are positive of doing better in their last group game on Saturday afternoon.
“We played well today but small errors also cost us the game. We are now looking forward to the last match against Sudan. Our defeat is a motivation to work harder if we are to go through to the next round of the competition,” she said.
Namibia’s beach volleyball team is being coached by James Verrinder.
