Woman hacked to death at Sikali village

RUNDU, 17 AUG (NAMPA) – A 23-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death by her husband on Friday at Sikali village in the Kavango West Region after a fight broke out between the couple.
Namibian Police acting crime investigations coordinator for Kavango West, Detective Chief Inspector Nikolaus Kupembona told Nampa on Friday that the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, around 01h30.
Sikali village is situated about 23 kilometres south of Rundu.
“It is alleged that a fight broke out between the two and the husband later took a traditional axe and hacked the deceased on her head and arms. She died instantly,” said Kupembona.
The deceased has been identified as Naimi Ngambo Kalenga and her next of kin have been informed.
Her body was transported to the Rundu State Hospital mortuary.
Kupembona said the suspect is known to the police and is not yet arrested while efforts to track him down were underway.
