WINDHOEK, 15 AUG (NAMPA) – Namibia’s Paulinus ‘John John’ Paulus will face Simion Tchetha from Malawi during the Namibia versus China boxing event scheduled for 24 August 2019 in Ongwediva, following the withdrawal of his Zimbabwean opponent Future Maziya.
According to a statement availed to Nampa by the MTC Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy on Thursday, Maziya withdrew from the fight after he sustained injuries during an attack in his home town.
Paulus’ new opponent, Tchetha, boasts a record of nine wins from 13 fights, with all but two of the victories coming by knockout. He has also recorded three losses and one draw.
Paulus, meanwhile, has a record of eight wins from as many fights, with six of the wins coming from knockouts.
Paulus’ promoter, Nestor Tobias, described him as the future of boxing, a fighter with discipline and impeccable punching power and definitely one to watch for the future.
“When I see fighters like John John, I know that the future of boxing is bright and Namibia will continue to produce world champions, because you cannot do anything but admire his talent,” he said.
