Wolves edge Lions in thriller

WINDHOEK, 11 AUG (NAMPA) – University of Namibia (UNAM) Wolves Basketball Club edged Lions Basketball Club 99-93 in a thrilling first match of the second round of the Khomas Basketball League played at the UNAM Gym Hall on Friday evening.
The match was watched by a sizeable crowd, which saw Peter ‘Spiderman’ Parker putting up a man of the match performance as he dominated in both defence and attack.
Parker top scored with 19 points for Wolves as the defending champions avenged their first round defeat to Lions, who had Joe Banda top scoring with 21 points.
Lions trailed the first quarter 39-16 and the second quarter ended 53-34 in favour of Wolves, who kept their lead in the third quarter (75-70) and eventually won the match 99-93.
Lions finished the first round of the league without defeat, while Wolves suffered their only defeat to Lions.
The KBA currently runs three leagues - the Premier League, First Division and Second Division.
The Premier League currently has five teams - Wolves, Lions, UNAM Rebels, Tsumeb Titans and BAS Vikings.
The First Division is comprised of Titans, Afro Stars, TBA Blackswords, NUST Blues and UNAM Raiders.
The Second Division has six teams: UNAM Pacers, UNAM Wolves II, Zula Black Mambas, Bulldogs, Team Allies and Plaza Warriors.
